EOC produces new Gender Agenda

EOC produces new Gender Agenda

The UK's Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) has unveiled a new campaign aimed at improving the lives of women.

Accompanied by a new website, the Gender Agenda campaign aims to provide better support for families, close the gender pay gap, make communities safer, improve respect for transgender people and share power equally between men and women.

The campaign, run by GetSETWomen, will carry out a survey and the website features a new index of gender equality indicators.

A total of 21 leading indicators have been identified by the EOC and estimates made of how long it will take for women to achieve equality in each field unless urgent action is taken.

The Gender Agenda campaign claims that, because of the UK's continuing gender pay gap, an average woman working full-time will lose £330,000 during the course of her lifetime because of her gender.

"In order for society to progress we need to transform our workplaces, our services and our communities," the EOC states. "Without this we will face the consequences off an unfinished revolution."
