New dyslexia employers' guide from BDA

The British Dyslexia Association (BDA) has announced that it will launch a new guide and code of practice for employers this September.
According to the organisation, the new guide will offer legal advice and guidance to bosses on how to support dyslexic staff, People Management reports.
Calls to the BDA helpline from employers and employees enquiring about workplace issues have increased.
The code will also cover issues relating to dyslexia and the Disability Discrimination Act and how to deal with discrimination issues around dyslexia.
An estimated six million people in the UK (ten per cent of the population) are affected by dyslexia, which is a combination of abilities and difficulties that can affect the learning process in the fields of reading, spelling and writing.
The launch of the new guide follows a recent decision by the Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) that a Metropolitan Police officer with mild dyslexia is disabled in the eyes of the law. Chief Inspector David Paterson is suing the force for discrimination under the terms of the Disability Discrimination Act 1996.
