Birmingham City boss calls on women to consid

The managing director of Birmingham City FC is urging women to consider unconventional and non-traditional careers in order to address growing skills shortages in the UK.
Karen Brady wants to see more women opting for more diverse roles and challenging stereotypes and is promoting a new £10 million initiative that aims to help women reach their full potential through training and support.
Supporting the second phase of the government's Women & Work Project, Ms Brady pointed out that just 33 per cent of managers and senior officials in the UK are women and suggested that the glass ceiling still exists for women.
She called on companies to look to their female employees to improve productivity and profits, boosting their opportunities to train for a new job or for career progression.
"From my experience, you need to enable women to take control of their careers, inspiring them to achieve higher and give them the right tools to succeed," she explained.
Karen Brady became managing director of Birmingham City FC at just 23 and has seen the club go from strength to strength. She has created her own mentoring and training opportunities for female employees and is committed to improving opportunities for female workers.
