Sting loses chef discrimination case

Sting loses chef discrimination case

Sting and Trudie Styler have lost a discrimination case against them brought by a former chef to the celebrity couple.

The rock star and his wife have now been ordered by an employment tribunal to pay Jane Martin £24,000 in compensation for sexual discrimination.

A ruling by the Southampton tribunal concluded that Sting and Ms Styler had discriminated against Ms Martin when she became pregnant

Ms Martin accused Ms Styler of forcing her to work long hours when she was pregnant, of wanting to be treated in a "royal manner" and of becoming angry if she had to take time off sick.

The chef, 41, from Winchester, also claimed that she was fired for being pregnant and the tribunal ruled that she had been unlawfully dismissed, calling her treatment by Sting and his wife "shameful".

Ms Styler and Sting have announced that they plan to appeal against the ruling and deny all allegations made against them.
